Welcome!

My name is Marc Pompl, an artist living in Dortmund, Germany. My passion is to paint landscape, seacsapes, and figures–ranging from portrait to nude–using oil paint.

How I started to paint

I started painting in 2014 in order to reduce my stress level. For several years I watched the very inspiring and motivating Bob Ross (1942-1995) on TV who was really fascinating to me as a person and by his skills. As a result I made the brave move and bought some oil paint, some brushes, and a canvas. I created my first oil painting and the fire of obsession was lit in me.

My way to become a professional artist

For a decade I painted just for me and my passion. Thanks to the possibilities of the internet–especially YouTube–I learned so much by watching some really great painters. I am really grateful to the generousity of these people:

In 2024 I decided to make the next big step and became a professional painter.
